Rural communities of Pakistan in general and southern Punjab in particular have been unfortunate to avail the benefits of development since independence. There has been massive migration of rural families to main cities in search of quality education for their children, higher employment prospects and opportunities for better living. Those poor families who stayed back have seen stagnation in their life with almost non-existent or poor opportunities in education, employment and better living standard.  Rear Admiral (R) Saeed Ahmad Sargana HI (M) our pattern in chief, while on service continued to maintain his links with the people of his ancestral home and undertook many welfare projects to improve the lives of these families. It was his brain child to establish a high quality educational institution to enable rural boys and girls to compete at equal level with their colleagues in major towns of Pakistan in service of the nation. Marine public school was established through the personal funding of our Pattern in chief and assistance extended by OGDCL. Marine Public School started classes in 2003. Since the medium of instructions was in English language and followed oxford syllabus, the admission were restricted to primary level. Conversion of students from Urdu medium of instruction to English was the most difficult and challenging task. However, the management and faculty’s hard work. Dedication and motivation of students were instrumental in overcoming all hurdles. Parent’s positive response and their smiling faces made us confident in pursuance of our objectives.
